While the weight of specific models and brands varies, the important thing to remember is the larger you go in capacity (wattage), the higher you typically go in weight. 

 

This might not be as important a consideration if you’re planning to bring the generator outside and leave it there for the duration of the event. Yet, if you plan to use it for many occasions, or to switch it between devices frequently, a smaller and more lightweight option might be easier.

 

 

3. Prepare for Backup

 

If there’s anything worse than being without power when you need it, it’s having power long enough to get started on a project, then losing it.
